Pete grows vegetables exclusively for his local community in  Central Bedfordshire. He uses growing methods that are environmentally sustainable, producing the freshest, tastiest vegetables whilst also protecting the soil and wildlife in his market garden.

Pete's customers value fresh produce that is grown without using chemical sprays and understand the environmental importance of eating seasonably and locally. Pete does a majority of the work with hand tools, ensuring that each and every vegetable in the garden is grown naturally and with the greatest care.

Each week, the freshly picked produce is delivered personally by Pete to his local veg box customers. He is also proud to supply top local restaurants including The John O'Gaunt in Sutton and The Plough at Bolnhurst.

Frequently asked questions

Is your veg organic?

Whilst I am not certified as organic, I do not use any chemical sprays in my growing and strive to maintain even higher than organic standards. I use netting and other techniques to protect my crops from hungry insects and other pests. It is more work for me, but better for the health of my customers and better for the environment.

Where is your market garden?

My market garden is just outside of Potton, near the village of Sutton, in Central Bedfordshire.

Where do you deliver to?

Within 4 miles of Potton. This means I will deliver to Biggleswade, Sandy, Wrestlingworth, and similiar.

How do I pay?

There are two ways to pay: 1) A single annual payment in advance, that guarantees you 26 weekly boxes from June until Christmas. 2) A weekly direct debit payment that starts on the week of the your first box in June.

What if I am away for a week? Can I cancel?

I can't offer cancellations, as your share of the harvest will go to waste. However, I can offer you delivery of your veg box to a friend or family member's address for them to enjoy that week; just let me know :-)

How is this different to the other veg box schemes that are available?

1) As this veg box scheme is exclusively LOCAL, you are drastically cutting down the miles that your food travels - this is fantastic for the environment. Other box schemes ship in their produce from many different parts of the country and often from abroad. 2) I do not use agri-chemicals in my growing. They are bad for us and bad for the environment. I am growing vegetables to look after the land and to look after you! 3) You will not find fresher produce - I pick the veg and deliver it to your door. 4) You are supporting a small local business.

Do you grow everything in the box yourself?

Yes I do, apart from potatoes and storage onions. I simply do not have enough land to grow these two extremely space hungry crops and so I source them from a reputable local supplier. In the extreme and unlikely event that I run low on any items, or have a crop failure due to the weather, then I will also source produce from other reputable local suppliers.
